The global transition towards carbon neutrality is reshaping electricity generation, transmission, and consumption. Adopting more sustainable electrical equipment is an important part of this global shift. Many innovations exist to make equipment more energy efficient and have less impact on the environment, and digital tools are helping to improve traceability and accountability across the supply chain. But challenges remain to their growth, including fragmented regulatory frameworks across regions and a lack of focus on full lifecycle impacts. This report explores the transition of electric equipment towards more sustainable practices from a lifecycle management perspective, focusing on development trends and challenges in the sustainable transformation of electric equipment, key technologies and application domains, green supply chain strategies and practices, and standardization frameworks and needs. By integrating technical, policy, and industrial perspectives, the report aims to provide strategic guidance for the sustainable development of electric equipment and to support the establishment of internationally recognized evaluation and standardization systems. This IEC societal and technology trend report was developed by the Green Electric Equipment project team under the IEC Market Strategy Board ( MSB ) and is available for free download .
